HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!
It’s been another fantastic year of 31 Days of Halloween, and one that was full of firsts! I hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend… I myself enjoyed Halloween on the couch with a glass of hard pumpkin cider and completed the tradition of watching The Nightmare Before Christmas, then went to bed before 11 p.m. for the first time in well over a month.
31 Days of Halloween
Halloween Firsts
As I said, this was a month of firsts for me!
- I decided to tackle my first race with a Zombie 5K, which fit neatly into my Zombie theme.
- I stayed the night in a Haunted Hotel room!
- I was ironically eaten alive by mosquitos while shooting my Missing Jaw Zombie.
- I made a Brain Cake you guys!!!!! It turned out so awesome!!!!!
- It was also my first Halloween with the new theme, and it was great seeing the interaction this year!
More Halloween Costume DIY to come!
I also started shooting my costumes over Labor Day weekend, which allowed me to complete and shoot 6 costumes, 6 makeup tutorials, and 38 total posts for this year! The worst part is… I still have 6 or 7 costumes that are in various stages of completion (and one completed that I didn’t manage to shoot in time). While I’m going to give myself a bit of a break (I have been so lazy since Monday, it’s been fabulous!) I’m looking forward to finishing them in the coming weeks… with plenty of time to spare before next year.
Planning for Halloween 2017
Not going to lie, I have already started planning for next year… and really started when I realized there was no humanly possible way to complete all of the costumes I had started/planned without taking time off work. I have some really great ideas in mind for next year, but I think I might not wait to post some of them that fit into my already existing themes, such as Nightmare Before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland, or Zombie.
What’s next?
Last year I felt completely stuck in a rut and burned out after Halloween. This year, I am so proud of how well I balanced myself. Giving myself an extra month to complete and photograph these projects really helped, and I made sure never to stay up later than midnight, and never more than 2 days in a row. I focused on trying to eat as healthy as possible (hard cider excluded) and made it to Farrells at least 3 days a week (time to ramp back up).
With fall well under way, I plan on focusing more on posts for healthy eating, recipes, and of course PUMPKIN EVERYTHING. So keep an eye out for more posts shortly.
What would you like to see for Halloween 2017?
With my 2017 planning under way, what costume theme would you love to see next year? Are there any costumes for my existing themes you would like to see? Let me know in the comments!
