This powerful anti-shaming speech
One girl made a mistake at 22 and fell in love with her boss. This mistake destroyed her life, left her in public ridicule. In her early 20s, her life as she knew it was over. Her mother would sit near her bed at night and made her shower with the door open to make sure she wouldn’t harm herself to escape from one of the first and incredibly intense cases of global cyber bullying. If you are over the age of 17 (and maybe even younger) you have likely heard of her. I genuinely enjoyed reading Monica Lewinsky’s speech on anti-shaming she recently gave in Cannes, France. It gives an intimate look into her life as a human being, rather than the media perception we all have, and how her life changed forever.
Visible Tattoos?
I know it has been discussed widely on the internet, but i’m fascinated by this debate on visible tattoos, specifically revolving around one blogger’s experience. To a degree, I can see the artist’s point. Personally, I have tattoos cover a large portion of my torso, but you wouldn’t know it by just looking at me on a day to day basis. I have heavily considered getting a tattoo that is more visible, but it is a serious internal debate, one that I am still deliberating on after a year of consideration.
That being said, I know a lot of tattoo artists get off on being a**holes. They emulate the tough guy vibe and seem to forget that they are businessmen, or often enough, that they are employees of a businessman and are subject to the criticisms of clients, just like anyone else. Whether you are called out on yelp, tripadvisor, or just a personal blog… a pissed customer is 10 times more likely to leave a review than a happy one.
Perhaps the tattoo you are being asked to do doesn’t fit your desired portfolio, but neither do the banner ads being designed for clients by a graphic designer who also aspired for bigger and better things. And if you really do oppose putting a really visible tattoo on a not so visibly tattooed person, well, there are better ways to handle the situation. Did she need to put him on blast? Maybe not. But was his response on inked mag a little overkill? You be the judge.

After losing my elder-bull Paige at 13, I can agree that there is nothing more special than spending those last few years with your dog. So many give up when their pets get old, but Paige was the best thing that I ever had, and those last three years I had with her were worth every moment of pain from losing her.
Props to this woman for making the love and joy in the lives of senior of pets her mission.
