Even with the extreme levels of poverty, the Dominican Republic was absolutely breath-taking in so many ways. Here are some of my favorite pictures from the trip!
A majority of the houses in the area we were building in were made of whatever materials were available. Tin siding, remnant boards, anything they had access to.
Every day we would get a small rainstorm. The clouds were a great break from the sun, and it was a great time to bond with the locals while we hid out from the rain in the church.
In the community near the landfill, there were still so many beautiful colors.
When the clouds rolled in, it was so incredibly beautiful.
My favorite part of the trip was playing with the children.
While I knew bananas grew upward, I had no idea they grew like this! It’s straight out of Jumanji!
The colonial district had such incredible architecture.
All of the homes had such fascinating colors!
Overall, it was beautiful and heart breaking. I really hope to go back someday and see more of what this country has to offer.
